The Magic of Uganda

Traveling in Africa is magical. I first fell in love with the people, landscapes, wildlife, and rhythm of life on the continent as a research student living in Kenya.

I returned to life as we know it here in the U.S. with my heart and my dreams firmly planted in African soil. I knew I had to go back. I was constantly talking and thinking about life in Africa--the simplicity, the hardships, the wildlife and issues surrounding their survival, the incredible spirit and hope of the people.

My family, never having set foot in Africa, did not understand what was so special about this place and why I felt so connected to it. They could not imagine the rush of wind in your face as you drive across open plains surrounded by thousands of wildebeest, the smell of a lion pride nearby, or the sounds of the African night. I told my mother that she needed to see Africa for herself and then she would know what I was trying to tell her. <<more>>

Mountain Gorilla Trekking - An Out of the Ordinary Travel Experience

Gorilla trekking is becoming increasingly popular as a tourist activity. Global soft adventure travelers are beginning to add gorilla safaris to their "Bucket List" or "Before I Die" lists as a must do. With only fewer than 700 mountain gorillas remaining in existence, you don't want to wait too long.

The gorilla is the largest primate, weighing as much as 600 lbs or 275 kg. An attractive feature of the mountain gorilla safari is the limited group size usually not more than 8 travelers to a group.
A one day gorilla trek can take anywhere from one to seven hours, and are led by experienced and knowledgeable guides and security guards. It is advised that you book with a reputable tour operator out of Rwanda or Uganda. The range of accommodations can run from budget to luxury tent camping with in-tent bathrooms and hot water, and fine dining.
