Located in Mexico, Copper Canyon has one of the largest canyon systems
in the world in a land that is full of rivers, waterfalls, mountains,
forests, and deserts. Copper canyon boasts a number of canyons, four of
which are deeper than the world-famous Grand Canyon of Arizona, although
not as wide. Two of the major attractions of Copper Canyon are the Chihuahua
al Pacifico Railway and the Cusarare Falls. This is in addition to a number
of fascinating canyons such as Barrancas Del Cobre, Sierra Tarahumara,
Huapoca, and the Batoplias Canyons, just to name a few.
The Chihuahua al Pacifico Railway is one of the most fascinating experiences for visitors. It is a breathtakingly scenic train journey that travels through eighty-five tunnels and crosses thirty-six major bridges along its way. The train climbs almost to a height of 2438m and descends back to the sea level. The journey is considered a lifetime experience, attracting millions of tourists every year. The Sierra Tarahumara Mountains can be seen along the railway tracks and are inhabited by the Tarahumara Indians, living in isolated communities along the tracks. The mountains also hide canyons among other mysteries.
A visit to the Cusarare Falls can enable the visitors explore an entirely different world that is rich with dramatic waterfalls, cave dwellings and ancient ruins. An ideal scenic spot that can be a dream come true for the hikers and adventure lovers, for camping and spending a great day amidst the beauty of the Nature.
Visitors can also take a tour to the Valley of the Monks in Creel Area, one of the popular biking trails, and the Arareco Lake. Also interesting might be a visit to a mysterious 18th century church called Satevo Mission, located at the bottom of Copper Canyon.
